My Furnace blows but no heat! Why?

This is the most common winter phone call, to

avoid throwing away your hard earn money, start with the basics.

If your Trane unit is blowing air but not producing heat, the most likely culprit is a thermostat setting issue - check that it's set to "heat" mode and the temperature is set to a desired heating level; other potential causes include a dirty air filter, a faulty flame sensor (for gas furnaces), or a problem with the ignition system, so it's best to check your filter and consider contacting a professional if the issue persists.

Key points to check:

  • Thermostat settings: Ensure your thermostat is set to "heat" and the temperature is set to a desired heating level.

  • Air filter: Check if the air filter is dirty and needs replacing.

  • Battery check: If your thermostat uses batteries, make sure they are fresh.

  • Fan setting: Verify that the fan is set to "auto" instead of "on".

  • Flame sensor (gas furnaces): Check if the flame sensor is clean and functioning properly.

When to call a professional:

  • If you've checked all basic troubleshooting steps and still have no heat.

  • If you suspect a problem with the ignition system.

  • If you hear unusual noises coming from the furnace.

  • If you are not comfortable performing any repairs yourself.

1. It will save you a service fee if you can simply reset your Breaker.

2. Change your filter or completely remove until you have a new one to replace it with.

3. If your Thermostat is blank, you might want to replace your battery. Some thermostats still required a battery operation.
